Bears likely facing another week without Cutler

Dennis Wierzbicki / USA TODAY Sports

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler is listed as doubtful to play Sunday against the Detroit Lions with a thumb injury.

Brian Hoyer will draw a second straight start in Cutler's absence.

Cutler was reportedly given a 2-3 week recovery timetable at the time of his injury, so it's possible he'll return for the Bears' Week 5 game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Curiously, Bears head coach John Fox has said Cutler is not guaranteed to get his starting job back when healthy.

Also doubtful for the Bears is running back Jeremy Langford. He is expected to miss a month or longer with an ankle injury.

Wideout Alshon Jeffery is questionable.
