Texans' Osweiler finds criticism of his play 'hilarious'

Brock Osweiler has yet to find his groove as leader of the Houston Texans' offense, especially as the unit struggled mightily in a shutout loss to New England last week.

The quarterback, who signed a $72-million contract in the offseason, has thrown three touchdowns and four interceptions across the first three games of the season, leading critics to question his decision-making and ability to read defenses.

"I think that's hilarious, to be honest with you,"Osweiler said, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. "The critique comes from a whole lot of people that don't know my read on that play. They've probably never actually sat in an offensive meeting in their life, let alone a quarterback meeting in the National Football League.

"That's why I don't look at Twitter. That's why - no offense to anybody (media) in here - I don't watch anything. I don't read anything."

The loss of three-time Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt makes it even more imperative for Osweiler to be careful with the football, and to avoid putting his defense in precarious positions. The fifth-year passer admitted he needs to "clean up" that area of his game.

"I feel like I've done a great job of progressing in this offense," Osweiler said. "I feel like I get better every week.

"I'm very comfortable with my reads. Certainly, I know I need to clean up my ball security issues of having four interceptions through three games, and that's something I will clean up."
