Arians: Some younger Cardinals 'are doing their own thing'

It's been a slower start than expected for the Arizona Cardinals this season, and head coach Bruce Arians has an idea of what may be holding them back.

With one of the most talented teams in the league, Arians says he's been impressed with his leaders, but the followers need some work - particularly the younger ones.

"We have some really, really good leaders," Arians told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Tuesday. "But to be a good leader, the others have to follow you. We’ve got a lot of young guys. We have some new faces that are doing their own thing and not following the example set by these guys. And it’s a two-way street. They can only lead you to water, but you’ve got to drink it.

"And some of these young guys have got to get out of old habits and get in with the Cardinal Way."

The coach clarified that his criticism wasn't limited to rookies, but included second-year players from other teams who might not be used to Arians' high expectations.

The Cardinals fell to a New England Patriots team missing its best players in Week 1 and a Buffalo Bills group debuting a first-time offensive coordinator in Week 3. They'll go for their second win of the season this weekend at home against the Los Angeles Rams.
