Garoppolo, Brissett at Patriots practice Tuesday

As the New England Patriots get set for the final game before Tom Brady's long-awaited return, the club's once-bleak quarterback situation appears to be trending back in the right direction.

Both Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett were in attendance and dressed at the start of Tuesday's team practice, according to multiple reports.

Garoppolo, who dazzled as a spot starter over the first two games, sat out last week with an injury to his throwing shoulder.

Brissett showed well in his absence, leading the way to an impressive 27-0 win over the Houston Texans, but he emerged from the contest with a thumb injury.

While it's unclear whether each will advance to full participation in the coming days, both quarterbacks being on the field for the start of the practice week is certainly a promising sign.

And with New England still yet to add a free-agent signal-caller, it seems possible that the team expects at least one of whom to be cleared for Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills.

The Patriots head into Week 4 with an opportunity to move to 4-0, and thus have themselves perfectly positioned for another run at the Lombardi Trophy with their future Hall of Famer under center.
