Report: Cowboys' Collins needs surgery on foot, will be placed on IR

Orlando Ramirez / USA TODAY Sports

The dominant Dallas Cowboys offensive line took a hit Monday with a report that guard La'el Collins requires surgery on his foot and is expected to be placed on injured reserve, according to ESPN's Ed Werder, who cites a source.

Collins is believed to have suffered a torn ligament in his foot during the Cowboys' win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football. The second-year lineman left the game at halftime with what was described at the time as a sprained foot.

After the game, Collins told reporters he was dealing with an issue involving the big toe on his right foot and was slated to undergo an MRI on Monday.

Ronald Leary replaced Collins in the game and will likely assume starting duties in his absence.
