Former NFL defensive end Greg Hardy was arrested Sunday in Richardson, Texas for possession of a controlled substance, according to NBC Dallas Fort-Worth.

TMZ reports Hardy was pulled over for not using a turn signal and a search revealed he was in possession of cocaine.

Hardy remains in Richardson City Jail as of Monday, and a bond has been set at $5,000.

The former Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys standout remains a free agent after being released in the offseason, and has drawn little interest despite recording six sacks in 12 games in 2015.

Hardy's off-field issues made headlines after he was arrested in 2014 for assaulting and threatening to kill an ex-girlfriend - including sending her ominous texts of his firearms. Hardy was not convicted and the charges were expunged from his record.

While with the Cowboys, Hardy showed little remorse for the domestic violence incident, publicly saying upon his return from suspension: "I hope I come out guns blazing."

He also made some ill-timed comments about Tom Brady's wife Gisele Bundchen.

"You seen his wife?" Hardy said. "I hope she comes to the game. I hope her sister comes to the game. (I hope) all her friends come to the game."
