Bears' Jay Cutler: Status evaluated daily

Cutler (thumb) is being evaluated on a day-to-day basis, according to coach John Fox, Bears writer Larry Mayer reports.

Analysis:

Cutler missed Sunday night's loss to the Cowboys due to his sprained throwing thumb, but wasn't ruled out until prior to kickoff, despite not practicing at all following Week 2. After such inactivity last week, Fox's admitted 'day-to-day' approach with Cutler to start this week seems somewhat curious, leaving his practice involvement as probably the most telling development to monitor. If Cutler remains sidelined, expect veteran Brian Hoyer to continue to start at quarterback for the Bears.
