Dez Bryant diagnosed with hairline fracture in knee

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant suffered a hairline fracture in one of the bones in his right knee, head coach Jason Garrett confirmed Wednesday.

The team is hopeful he can play Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, but his status is considered week to week.

"He did not practice today and we're hopeful that he'll be able to play. We're taking the situation day by day, hopefully he can do something tomorrow. He has a slight hairline fracture in one of the bones of his knees. We don't think it's something that's going to keep him out for an extended period of time but again it's going to be a day by day, week by week situation," Garrett told reporters Wednesday.

The two-time Pro Bowler was using crutches Wednesday and his status for Sunday's game is likely contingent upon his knee's response to treatment, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

Bryant missed practice Wednesday as he continued to undergo evaluation. Prior to the MRI results, Garrett listed the star receiver day to day.

Bryant has caught 11 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown in three games.
