The New York Jets were awarded former Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins off waivers, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

A former second-round pick, Seferian-Jenkins was released last week after getting arrested for a DUI.

Seferian-Jenkins may help fill a hole at tight end the Jets created earlier this season when they released a former second-round pick of their own, Jace Amaro, who was then claimed off waivers by the Tennessee Titans.

The mercurial Seferian-Jenkins battled injuries and reported immaturity issues while in Tampa Bay, with his DUI arrest seemingly being the final straw.

When Seferian-Jenkins was on the field, he was often highly productive - particularly in the red zone. In 18 games over the last three seasons, the big-bodied tight end has 45 catches for 603 yards and seven touchdowns.
