Giants' McAdoo: Beckham needs to be 'less of a distraction'

New York Giants head coach Ben McAdoo was unimpressed with Odell Beckham Jr.'s antics during Sunday's 29-27 loss to the Washington Redskins.

Beckham threw a fit on the sideline during the fourth quarter following an Eli Manning interception, tearing down a kicking net.

McAdoo took some of the responsibility for the superstar wide receiver's actions, saying it's the team's job to help him keep his emotions in check.

"I thought between the white lines he controlled himself," McAdoo told reporters Monday. "Emotionally on the sideline in between the series, he needs to do a better job. That's all of our responsibilities, mine included. But he needs to control his emotions better and be less of a distraction to himself and his teammates. It's our job to help him with that process."

Manning was also confused by Beckham's sideline outburst.

"I was trying to figure out what was going on, why he was getting frustrated," Manning said. "He was getting catches, he was making plays, and we just need everybody to stay calm. We don't need to get rattled, we don't need to get fired up."

Beckham's emotions may have been affected by the highly anticipated matchup against Redskins cornerback Josh Norman. Last season, when Norman was a member of the Carolina Panthers, the two engaged in several physical encounters, eventually leading to a one-game suspension for Beckham.
