Seahawks' Russell Wilson: Suffered MCL sprain Sunday

Wilson suffered a sprained MCL during Sunday's game against the 49ers, Liz Mathews of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.

Analysis:

Wilson's injury was confirmed by coach Pete Carroll during a Monday morning interview, when he also said the quarterback has already started rehabbing the injury. As it stands, it's unclear what Wilson's status for this Sunday's game against the Jets will be, especially since he's still nursing an ankle ailment, but escaping the gruesome-looking incident with just a sprained knee should be some relief for all parties involved. While Wilson's situation will certainly have to be monitored in the days, and likely weeks, to come, it wouldn't be surprising if the Seahawks sign a veteran quarterback to bolster their ranks outside of undrafted rookie Trevone Boykin at the position going forward.
