Watch: Wentz continues hot start with flawless 1st half vs. Steelers

James Lang / USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz is on fire.

During the first half of Sunday's matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Wentz completed 18-of-25 passes for 183 yards and a touchdown, giving the 2-0 Eagles a 13-3 lead over a potential Super Bowl contender.

Wentz spread the ball around, completing passes to seven different targets.

The second overall pick has been the biggest surprise of the early season, coming into Sunday's game with 468 passing yards, three touchdowns, a 60 percent completion percentage, and a quarterback rating of 94.1.

If Wentz continues his efficient play the Eagles will have to be considered a contender in the NFC East, something no one considered possible before the start of the season.

Regardless of whether or not the Eagles are for real, they'll have at least a share of first place in the division to start Week 4 after the Washington Redskins beat the New York Giants.
