Report: Browns' McCown expected to be out 2-4 weeks

Scott R. Galvin / USA TODAY Sports

The injury to Cleveland Browns quarterback Josh McCown is expected to keep him out for the next two-to-four weeks as he recovers from a hairline fracture and strain in his left shoulder, a source informed Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Rapoport adds that the veteran lobbied his team to play in today's game against the Miami Dolphins, to no avail.

McCown took a number of hits in last Sunday's loss to the Baltimore Ravens, yet finished the game despite the shoulder injury. Defensive coordinator Ray Horton revealed Friday that the journeyman quarterback had in fact played the remainder of the contest with a broken collarbone.

Rookie third-round pick Cody Kessler will get his first pro start today and will be the third Browns quarterback to start a game this season after just three weeks of action.
