Browns DC: Josh McCown played with broken collarbone
Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator Ray Horton may have let slip a detail about quarterback Josh McCown's injured left shoulder the team would've preferred to keep secret.
Horton praised McCown's toughness Friday, telling reporters the veteran passer played through a broken collarbone in Week 2.
McCown didn't miss a snap in the game despite the ailment, which was initially presented as a soft tissue injury.
"I know it's a shoulder/clavicle injury, (but) I don't know that it's totally broken,'' head coach Hue Jackson said after the game, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Plain Dealer. "I don't think that. But I know that there's something that's not right. I think it's more of a deep sprain at this time than anything. But I don't think there's anything totally broken.''
Regardless of whether McCown has a broken bone, it could be a while before we see him back on the field.
Rookie Cody Kessler will start Week 3 against the Miami Dolphins.
