Texans' Tyler Ervin: Makes mistakes in Thursday's loss

Ervin averaged 16.5 yards on two kickoff returns and lost a fumble on one of them in Houston's 27-0 loss to New England in Week 3 on Thursday.

Analysis:

Special teams played a big role in New England's win as both Ervin and Charles James II fumbled kickoffs. In addition to Ervin's fumble, he had a couple of fair catches inside his five-yard line and lost the team 15 yards when he allowed a punt to hit the ground. The rookie came out of San Jose State with a big reputation as a returner, but we've seen little of that in the first three games of the season.
