Cowboys' Tony Romo: Progressing with rehab

Head coach Jason Garrett relayed Thursday that Romo (back) is progressing in his rehab effort, which includes improved mobility, Rob Phillips of the Cowboys' official site reports.

Analysis:

Four weeks removed from the devastating preseason hit, Romo appears to be on the right path, as the Cowboys' strength and conditioning staff currently has the quarterback on a light regimen, according to David Helman of the team's official site. In his absence, rookie Dak Prescott has directed the team to a 1-1 record on the backs of 63 percent passing and 519 yards, yet his lack of an interception, while impressive, has been offset with no touchdown tosses to date. No matter the Cowboys' place in the standings at the point Romo is cleared for game action, Prescott will yield the top quarterback spot to the 13-year veteran.
