Report: Vikings preparing for Peterson to be out at least 1 game

Brace Hemmelgarn / USA TODAY Sports

While Adrian Peterson continues to deliberate what course of treatment option to take for his torn meniscus, the Minnesota Vikings' coaches are preparing for Sunday's contest against the Carolina Panthers with the expectation that the star running back will miss at least that game, reports ESPN's Ed Werder.

Peterson has still yet to be officially ruled out for Week 3, as it's believed to be an injury he can play through, but he would reportedly miss at least several weeks if he were to undergo surgery.

The 31-year-old was carried to the locker room during the win over the Green Bay Packers, with it feared he'd suffered a major knee injury.

Consequently, the torn meniscus diagnosis was the more positive outcome possible.

Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata will likely split the carries if Peterson is forced to miss game time.
