Brooks ponders passing out Redskins jerseys at Wizards training camp

Washington Wizards head coach Scott Brooks is the new face on the D.C. sports scene, and he's trying to endear himself to the locals.

Brooks will start by rallying Washington Redskins fans to his side. After Wizards point guard John Wall showed up to a Redskins game over the weekend rocking Dallas Cowboy gear, Brooks had a thought.

"Maybe I should pass out Redskins jerseys on the first day of training camp," Brooks told Bryan Frantz from CBS.

Brooks respects Wall for supporting whoever he likes - he would just like for that team to be the neighboring Redskins.

"The one thing about NBA locker rooms - there’s so much trash-talking going on about who’s football team you support. And all these guys have their hometown teams or their childhood teams. I understand John is Cowboys fan, but the thing I love about John - he’s in the community here. You can go back in his history of being a Wizard, he’s done a lot of community work here, and that’s what it’s about.

"We love what we do, we have a great platform, but we also have an obligation and a privilege to give back to the community," Brooks said.
