An already explosive Pittsburgh Steelers offense could be poised to add another playmaker in late October.

Tight end Ladarius Green, who was placed on the physically unable to perform list in advance of the regular season, expressed optimism Monday he'll be able to return to action when eligible in Week 7.

"It's a good possibility," Green said, according to Ray Fittipaldo of The Pittsburgh-Post Gazette. "We'll see. I don't want to jinx it, but the rehab is going good. My ankle feels good running."

Green missed all of training camp after signing a four-year, $20-million deal in the offseason.

Though his comments suggest it's his ankle that's holding him back, reports surfaced during the offseason indicating he was dealing with headache issues.

Any such issues would be concerning given his history with concussions.

Green returning for Pittsburgh's Oct. 23 matchup with the New England Patriots will only further solidify the passing attack already among the NFL's elite.

The 26-year-old flashed ability over his four seasons with the San Diego Chargers in which he worked as a secondary tight end option behind Antonio Gates.
