The Houston Texans might finally have the franchise quarterback they've yearned for.

In his debut in a Texans uniform, Brock Osweiler completed 22-of-35 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns with one interception, leading Houston to a 23-14 victory over the Chicago Bears.

The performance drew plenty of praise, including some from the top of the organization.

"The thing that was real impressive is the way Osweiler put the ball on the mark," team owner Bob McNair said after Sunday's game. "Several were dropped, but he had several passes that were right on the mark. He had a great game, better than the stats show.

"I think he's everything we thought he would be. He performed under pressure. Several times he escaped. He completed some passes after getting pressure. He has good composure and he's poised."

The Texans handed the 25-year-old a four-year, $72-million contract in free agency despite him having started only seven games in four seasons.

If Osweiler can lead the team to a second consecutive AFC South championship and another trip to the playoffs, McNair will surely consider it well worth the investment.
