Julio Jones re-aggravates ankle injury in loss to Buccaneers

Dale Zanine / USA TODAY Sports

Star Atlanta Falcons receiver Julio Jones tweaked his left ankle in Sunday's 31-24 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, re-aggravating an injury he suffered in the preseason.

Jones sustained the injury when he was tackled after making a reception late in the first half. The initial ankle injury came in the third week of preseason.

It was an uncharacteristically quiet game against a division opponent for the perennial Pro Bowler, who finished with four catches for 66 yards - the majority of which came on a 25-yard touchdown late in the third quarter.

Jones - who led the league in receiving yards last season - said he's not worried about the injury and expects to play in next week's matchup with the Oakland Raiders.

Fellow starting wide receiver Mohamed Sanu is also dealing with an ankle issue and was seen limping heavily in the locker room after Sunday's game, according to Vaughn McClure of ESPN.
