RG3 suffers sprained shoulder in disappointing Browns debut

Robert Griffin III had a shaky debut with the Cleveland Browns.

In his first regular season game since Dec. 28, 2014, Griffin completed just 12 of his 26 passes for 190 yards and an interception in a 29-10 loss to the rebuilding Philadelphia Eagles.

He didn't flash much of his trademark running ability, either, recording five rushes for 37 yards, and suffering a sprained shoulder on a vicious and unnecessary hit late in the game.

Griffin said postgame he expects to play next week in the Browns' home debut against the Baltimore Ravens.

"I'm in pain, but I'll be OK. We'll continue to monitor (it)," he said.

Though the Browns were put in an early 10-0 hole, Griffin's first two drives were three-and-outs, and his third resulted in a turnover on downs. The five-year pro also had a ball sail over his head for a safety.

"We came up short today and it started with me," he said.

Griffin was only partly to blame for the team's performance, as the Browns' defense allowed rookie quarterback Carson Wentz to go 22-of-37 for 278 yards and two touchdowns in a sparkling NFL debut.
