Cowboys' Tony Romo: Figures to stay on active roster

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones strongly suggested that Romo (back) will be kept on the 53-man roster to start the season, David Helman of Dallas Cowboys.com reports.

Analysis:

There's been talk about placing Romo on injured reserve, which would prevent the veteran quarterback from practicing before Week 7 or playing in a game before Week 9. While it is quite possible Romo won't be back prior to Week 9, his recovery timetable (8-10 weeks) suggests it's at least possible. The Cowboys may still want Romo to undergo some tests before a decision is finalized, but it sounds as if the team has essentially made up its mind.
