Cowboys' Tony Romo: Team still mulling IR designation

The Cowboys haven't yet decided whether Romo (back) will begin the season on IR, David Helman of DallasCowboys.com reports.

Analysis:

Being on IR would require the quarterback to miss at least the first eight weeks of the season and while that timeline matches the 6-10 week recovery timetable Romo was initially given, the team may elect to simply carry him on the 53-man roster so that he can get back in the lineup as soon as he's healthy enough. Blogging The Boys also speculates that pain tolerance might be the only thing standing in the way of a Week 3 return for Romo, but at this point that seems like the extreme optimistic end of the spectrum with regard to when Romo might be back.
