Vikings officially place Bridgewater on IR

The Minnesota Vikings have officially placed quarterback Teddy Bridgewater on injured reserve after he tore his ACL and dislocated his knee on Tuesday, ending his 2016 season.

The move was expected after the team confirmed his condition on Tuesday after Bridgewater suffered the devastating non-contact injury in practice.

The Vikings are expected to start Shaun Hill at quarterback in Bridgewater's absence and re-signed backup Brad Sorensen on Wednesday after releasing him prior to the injury.

Sorensen joins Hill, undrafted rookie Joel Stave, and Taylor Heinicke on the Vikings' depth chart at quarterback. With Hill being the only player with NFL experience under center, there is a strong likelihood the Vikings will look to ring in another veteran.
