Eagles preparing to have Lane Johnson in Week 1

The Philadelphia Eagles have yet to hear from the league in regards to the reported 10-game suspension facing Lane Johnson for a performance-enhancing drug violation.

And while the starting right tackle appeals the looming ban, the Eagles are moving forward as though he'll play in Week 1.

"This is something that we wrestle with every day," head coach Doug Pederson said in a press conference Wednesday. "I'll tell you this: If he's ready to go, then he's our guy. You just go with that, because he's got plenty of reps in training camp."

The Eagles have been working on contingency plans. Starting left guard Allen Barbre has seen time at right tackle during the preseason, while rookie Isaac Seumalo and veteran Stefen Wisniewski have both filled in for Barbre at guard.

"We've got to cover all our bases one way or the other and just have a plan when we get to that point," Pederson explained.

If Johnson is available, Pederson confirmed that Barbre will move back to left guard and that "you kind of put the pieces back in place.".

With Seumalo, Wisniewski, and backup tackle Halapoulivaati Vaitai as suitable replacements, Pederson also said the Eagles have the pieces "to sustain this thing through the duration."
