Patriots release Bryan Stork following failed trade with Redskins

David Butler II / USA TODAY Sports

The New England Patriots released center Bryan Stork on Monday.

Stork became property of the Patriots after his trade to the Washington Redskins was annulled when he failed a physical.

The Redskins traded a conditional seventh-round pick to the Patriots for Stork last Wednesday, after word spread that the Patriots were about to release him.

Stork then mulled retirement before reporting to Washington over the weekend. Where the third-year pro goes from here is unknown, but at 25 it's hard to believe he won't be able to catch on with another team when healthy.

The Patriots also confirmed the release of veteran defensive tackle Terrance Knighton on Monday.
