Browns to play starters in preseason finale

The Cleveland Browns will play their starters Thursday against the Chicago Bears, something most teams don't do during the final week of the preseason.

Head coach Hue Jackson believes he needs to see a little more from his key players, though he wouldn't specify how long the starters would remain in the game.

"I think we need to play them," Jackson said, according to Pat McManamon of ESPN. "I think we need to get better as a football team."

The Browns aren't in a typical position with a complete rebuild in progress and a dearth of elite-level talent. Jackson appears to be squeezing whatever he can out of his best players in an effort to avoid another 3-13 season.

Though they've been outscored 71-37 over the first three games of the preseason, there have been some offensive flashes. Quarterback Robert Griffin III has connected with returning receiver Josh Gordon for 87 yards and a touchdown, continuing to display his touch on the deep ball.
