Cardinals' John Brown: Making progress through concussion protocol

Head coach Bruce Arians said Monday that Brown continues to have headaches, but he's made progress through the concussion protocol, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports.

Analysis:

Arians contradicted himself during the media session, stating that Brown has been "headache-free" for two days. Until Brown presses himself in drills, he'll be unable to ditch the protocol for head injuries, which has been difficult to accomplish due to recurring headaches whenever he attempts to practice. With sessions lined up Tuesday and Wednesday, he'll have two chances to receive clearance from an independent neurologist for the final exhibition Thursday versus the Broncos. However, the Cardinals would be well-served if they aimed for active status in Week 1.
