49ers' Jeremy Kerley: Gets better chance in San Francisco
Kerley, who was traded from the Lions to the 49ers on Sunday, will have the opportunity to compete for roles as a punt returner and slot receiver, ESPN's Adam Caplan reports.
Analysis:
Kerley had no real shot to land higher than No. 5 on the Detroit depth chart but could instantly compete for a slot role on the receiver-needy 49ers. The acquisition may have partially been a response to the hamstring injury recently suffered by fellow Niners wideout Bruce Ellington. None of Ellington, Torrey Smith or Quinton Patton managed to impress this preseason.
