Titans' Marcus Mariota: Could play one drive Thursday

Head coach Mike Mularkey said Mariota may play one series in Thursday's preseason finale against Miami, the Titans' official site reports.

Analysis:

Starters typically don't play at all in the last preseason game, but with the Titans sporting a mix of young players and new additions, there could be some slight benefit to giving the first-team offense a bit of run. Mariota probably doesn't need the final tuneup, as he's completed 23 of 36 passes for 309 yards in three preseason appearances, benefiting from Tennessee's offseason additions of DeMarco Murray, Derrick Henry, Rishard Matthews and Tajae Sharpe. The Titans also appear to have an improved offensive line, with rookie first-rounder Jack Conklin bookending Taylor Lewan at offensive tackle.
