Buccaneers' Roberto Aguayo: Perfect on six kicks in redemption game Friday
Aguayo nailed field goals of 48, 21 and 27 yards in his three attempts during Friday's 30-13 preseason victory over the Browns. He also was successful on all three extra-point tries.
Analysis:
The performance had to prompt a collective sigh of relief from Bucs brass, fans and Aguayo himself, who had endured a tough week beginning with the prior Saturday's tilt against the Jaguars. Over the prior week, the surprise 2016 second-round pick had experienced the downside of the spotlight inherent in his draft position, particularly after he had a forgettable first day of joint practices against the Browns last Tuesday. Aguayo's first kick Friday was particuarly a confidence-builder, considering it came from a significant distance and capped off a successful seven-play, 47-yard opening drive for Tampa. The FSU product will get another opportunity to continue building momentum in the preseason finale before the lights come on Sept. 11 against the Falcons.
