Rams' Goff says he suffered bruised tailbone vs. Broncos

Kelvin Kuo / USA TODAY Sports

Jared Goff emerged from Saturday's preseason loss to the Denver Broncos dealing with an apparent minor injury.

The Los Angeles Rams quarterback was seen heading for the X-ray room after the game, and later told ESPN he'd suffered a bruised tailbone, via Troy Renck of ABC7.

Goff's injury adds to what's already been a disappointing preseason for the No. 1 overall pick. After completing just 4-of-12 passes for 45 yards against Denver, he remains set for the backup job behind Case Keenum to start the season.

Whether Goff steps into the starting role at any point during his rookie year will likely depend on both the progress he makes in practice and whether the team is in the playoff picture down the stretch.

Barring any issues with the injury extending into the week ahead, the 21-year-old should see his most extensive action to date in Los Angeles' fourth and final exhibition contest.

He'll enter that game looking to improve upon a stat line that includes completions on 16-of-33 attempts for 165 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
