Ravens' Joe Flacco: Looks reasonably sharp in debut

Flacco (knee) completed 11 of 16 passes for 94 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Lions.

Analysis:

Suiting up for the first time since he tore his ACL in November, the 31-year-old Flacco produced three points on two first-quarter drives, the second of which ended with an unsuccessful fourth-down attempt. He likely would have played deeper into the game, if not for the fact he piled up 16 pass attempts (and a sack) on just two series. Flacco did miss a couple of throws, but he didn't appear to be impacted by his surgically repaired left knee, which jibes with reports from training camp. Flacco has been a full participant since the start of camp, with no setbacks reported at any point. On a less optimistic note, starting tight end Ben Watson is out for the season after suffering a torn Achilles early in Saturday's game. The Ravens do have strong depth at the position, but Maxx Williams (undisclosed) and Dennis Pitta (finger) are also injured. Furthermore, wideouts Steve Smith (Achilles) and Breshad Perriman (knee) remain uncertain for the start of the season, despite returning to practice this past week.
