Patriots' Knighton disappointed with place on depth chart

New England Patriots defensive tackle Terrance Knighton did not see the field during Friday's preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, and he wasn't happy about it.

"I prepared myself to play," Knighton said, according to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald. "I just didn't play. I don't know. You've got to ask the coaches.

"I'm 100 percent healthy. I prepared myself to play a lot of football tonight. It didn't happen. It is what it is. I'm not asking why or anything. I'm just going to show up to work tomorrow and take it a day at a time."

It seems Knighton is in jeopardy of being cut after signing with the Patriots in the offseason. As it stands, he's behind Malcom Brown, Markus Kuhn, Anthony Johnson, and Joe Vellano on the depth chart.

"It's disappointing because I've played a lot of ball in this league, seen a lot of things, but I'm not going to make too much of it," Knighton said. "It is what it is. Whatever happens, happens. If I'm here, I'm here. If I'm not, I'm not."

The veteran played last season with the Washington Redskins, recording 29 tackles and 1.5 sacks, on the heels of two solid seasons with the Denver Broncos.
