Panthers' Brenton Bersin: Should make team

Bersin (ribs) is currently expected to round out the Panthers' regular-season receiving corps, ESPN's David Newton reports.

Analysis:

Bersin has occupied Carolina's final receiving spot in both of the past two seasons and appears destined to maintain that role once again. The local Charlotte product is well-versed in the Panthers' offense, as evidenced by his team-leading five catches for 69 yards in their preseason opener. Although a ribs injury suffered in that game has slowed him since, Bersin provides reliable depth behind Kelvin Benjamin, Devin Funchess, Ted Ginn and Philly Brown, thus making the Panthers' fifth wideout job his to lose.
