Kubiak not concerned with Siemian's, Lynch's lack of QB experience

Heading into the Denver Broncos' quarterback competition this offseason, it appeared Mark Sanchez had to be the favorite purely based on previous experience, but not to head coach Gary Kubiak.

Sanchez began camp appearing to have the No. 1 spot on the depth chart, but has since been overtaken by Trevor Siemian, who will start his second straight exhibition game Saturday, despite a huge discrepancy in NFL experience.

When asked how much impact having two quarterbacks with no NFL starts will have on the team's decision to name a starter, Kubiak answered: "zero."

"I'm looking at what's taken place the last six months: how they've handled themselves, how they've handled the team and how they respond to things," Kubiak told ESPN's Jeff Legwold. "That's what I'm looking at."

Siemian has one snap of NFL playing experience, a Week 15 kneel down last season, while Sanchez has spent seven years in the pros.

Kubiak named Siemian the starter for the team's third preseason game, typically used as a regular-season dress rehearsal. However, he did not say who will be second on the depth chart - Sanchez or rookie Paxton Lynch - or if, either quarterback will get work with the first-team offense.

"I'm going to take a look at how long I'm going to play the starters, and then it has to do with what I'm going to do with the other guys," Kubiak said. "We'll see. I'm conscious of Trevor for the last two days. Is he ready to play? Is he full load and go? It sure looks that way to me."
