Redskins' Chris Thompson: Likely to sit out Friday's contest

Coach Jay Gruden relayed that Thompson (shoulder/knee) will likely sit out Friday's preseason game against the Bills, the Washington Post reports.

Analysis:

Per CSN Mid-Atlantic, Thompson is nursing a sore knee and shoulder and Gruden would prefer for the running back to not "get banged around" in Friday's exhibition tilt. With top back Matt Jones set to miss the game, rookies Keith Marshall and Robert Kelley are in line to see more snaps, as the team continues to evaluate its depth RB options in advance of roster cut-downs. In his role as Washington's presumed primary third-down back, Thompson maintains a degree of fantasy utility, notably in PRR formats.
