Report: Josh Gordon will be RFA after 2016 season

Despite being four years removed from his selection in the second round of the 2012 supplemental draft, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon reportedly won't be headed for the open market after the 2016 season.

Because of his 10-game league suspension and his one-game ban imposed by the Browns in 2014, Gordon lost a year toward free agency and will instead be a restricted free agent in 2017, a source told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Gordon dropped the grievance he filed against the team suspension, notes Florio, meaning his 2016 season will count as his third year toward free agency eligibility.

This means that the Browns - or whoever holds Gordon's rights after this season, as several teams reportedly inquired about a trade - will be able to secure the wideout for another year under one of the several RFA tenders.
