Bridgewater expects to play Vikings' 3rd preseason game

Mike DiNovo / USA TODAY Sports

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater told reporters Wednesday that he expects to play in Sunday's preseason game against the San Diego Chargers.

Bridgewater surprisingly remained on the sidelines in last week's contest due to what was later revealed as shoulder soreness.

Neither the player nor the team have seemed concerned about the issue to this point, though, and Bridgewater indeed suiting up Sunday would all but confirm that his previous absence was only precautionary.

Barring any setbacks, all indications are that the third-year quarterback will be at full strength for the regular-season opener Sept. 11.

Bridgewater should see a substantial amount of playing time at the helm of Minnesota's first-team offense this week before playing few, if any snaps, to close out the preseason in the game that follows.
