Report: Arians, Elway joining NFL's competition committee

The NFL competition committee is reportedly set to add a pair of the league's most respected leadership figures.

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians and Denver Broncos general manager John Elway are joining the committee ahead of the 2016 season, league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

With members including a number of head coaches and front-office executives around the league, the group is responsible for reviewing all rules and other competitive aspects of the game.

It's unclear whether either Arians or Elway is coming aboard to take on a lead role, but the news comes months after Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher stepped down from his position.

Fisher, one of the committee's longest-tenured members, explained that he hopes for his departure to only be a leave of absence amid his team's relocation to Southern California.
