Report: Patriots to release Stork, Washington

The New England Patriots are set to release center Bryan Stork, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Stork was listed as the starting center on the Patriots' depth chart, but was in competition for the role with David Andrews, who started 11 games in his rookie year.

The 25-year-old Stork was limited to six games in 2015 after suffering a concussion. He reportedly suffered another concussion toward the start of training camp, and has been unable to regain his position with the first team since returning to practice Aug. 8.

Stork was ejected from a joint practice session with the Chicago Bears last week for head-butting Bears linebacker John Timu and taking swings at several other Bears defenders.

But with injuries to linemen Shaq Mason and Jonathan Cooper, it appeared his roster spot was secure, despite the ejection and his injury history.

The Patriots are also releasing veteran wide receiver Nate Washington, reports Tom. E Curran of CSNNE.

The 12-year veteran spent 2015 with the Houston Texans, catching 47 passes for 658 yards, but has been an afterthought in the Patriots' receiving corps during training camp.
