Texans' Tyler Ervin: Looking for breakout

Ervin is hoping to have a breakout performance in preseason Week 3 against the Cardinals, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Analysis:

Ervin, a speedy fourth-round draft pick from San Jose State, has yet to make an explosive play as Houston's primary kick returner or on offense as a reserve running back. In college, he had a total of five touchdowns on punt or kick returns, so the skill is in him and the Texans want him to grab hold of the return job. As for his chances in Houston's backfield, his status as a recent draft pick may give him an edge over Kenny Hilliard and Akeem Hunt, but those two have produced better results than Ervin during the first two preseason games.
