Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins is scheduled to make his preseason debut Friday against the Washington Redskins, head coach Rex Ryan told reporters Tuesday.

Watkins began camp on the physically unable to perform list after undergoing offseason surgery to repair a broken foot, and was cleared to practice Aug. 8. His return to game action this week is on schedule with his expected recovery time.

With the third preseason game usually acting as a dress rehearsal, the 23-year-old receiver could see time into the second half, depending on how comfortable the team is with his injury.

Watkins made 60 catches for 1,047 yards and nine touchdowns last season and is expected to be the Bills' number one receiver again this year.
