Dallas Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones hinted Friday that rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott was set to make his preseason debut Thursday against the Seattle Seahawks, but Jones' father, owner Jerry Jones, isn't quite so sure.

"I don't know if we'll play him," Jerry said Tuesday on 105.3 The Fan, according to Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. "He could. He's looked good these last three days. But just from the standpoint of how he looked initially when we started our training camp in California, I've seen enough to know that he's everything we'd hoped he would be."

Elliott missed some time earlier in camp with a sore hamstring.

If the Cowboys don't play Elliott in the third preseason game, it's likely his debut will wait until the regular season, as starters rarely play in the last exhibition game.
