Bills' Reggie Bush: Not the No. 2?

Coach Rex Ryan called Mike Gillislee, who is currently in the league's concussion protocol following Saturday's preseason game, the current top backup behind LeSean McCoy, The Buffalo News reports. Said Ryan of the veteran Bush, "Reggie is just -- like I said, we're going to be smart with him. I mean we don't want to just run his legs off as the No. 2 back. But make no mistake, he's going to play for us and contribute not just as a returner, but on offense as well."

Analysis:

That supports the case we made earlier that Bush will be used in a utility role -- playing on passing downs and certain formations while being the main returner on punts and kickoffs. He should end up getting a lot of action on this team, especially with Karlos Williams now out of the picture, but if you're looking at him as insurance in case McCoy goes down, that isn't really how the Bills see him.
