Indianapolis Colts cornerback Vontae Davis will miss at least the first month of the regular season due to ligament damage in his ankle, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Davis incurred the injury in practice last Thursday and wore a cast on his right foot. He was previously listed as week-to-week by the team.

With free-agent acquisition Patrick Robinson fending off a groin injury, the Colts agreed to terms on a reported one-year deal with four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Antonio Cromartie on Monday.

"We're going to have to get creative," Pagano said of the team's numerous injuries at cornerback to Zak Keefer of The Indianapolis Star. "That's what we're going to have to do while these guys are on the mend."

Davis was named to the Pro Bowl for the second consecutive season in 2015.
