Broncos activate Ware from NFI list

Denver Broncos linebacker DeMarcus Ware has been activated from the non-football injury list and will make his return to practice Tuesday, head coach Gary Kubiak announced.

Ware missed all offseason activities and the first few weeks of training camp due to back issues that flared up earlier this year.

The Broncos have stated they won't rush him back onto the field, but a move to the active roster and receiving clearance to practice is a positive sign for his progress.

With a report from Mike Klis of 9News sharing the expectation that Ware will be held out of all remaining exhibition games, his practice sessions over the next few weeks will serve as his tuneups for the regular-season opener.

The 34-year-old has maintained a high level of production through two years lining up opposite Von Miller on a dominant Broncos defense. He tallied 7.5 sacks across just 11 games in 2015 before helping Denver chase down a Super Bowl title with another 3.5 quarterback takedowns in the playoffs.
