The Kansas City Chiefs announced Monday the activation of rush-linebacker Tamba Hali from the physically unable to perform list.

Hali, who's been out since minicamp after undergoing a minor knee procedure, will return to practice on a limited basis this week. His workload will likely be increased in the coming weeks as the Chiefs look to have him back at full strength for the regular-season opener.

An uncertain timeline on Justin Houston's return makes Hali the Chiefs' primary pass-rusher heading into Week 1.

The 32-year-old tallied 6.5 sacks and two forced fumbles across 15 games as part of Kansas City's seventh-ranked defense in 2015.
