Cardinals' Tyrann Mathieu: Participates in individual drills Sunday

Mathieu (knee) participated in both 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills in Sunday's padded practice, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis:

Although Mathieu was expected to be contained to individual drills, he took a turn in the 11-on-11 portion of practice. It's no surprise that the All-Pro is bucking odds just 35 weeks removed from surgery on his torn ACL, but ultimately the Cardinals are gauging whether Mathieu will be ready for kickoff in Week 1.
